A loan helped to buy a plot of farmland for her farming business.

Samearn's story

Samearn is 33 years old. She lives with her husband and two children in a rural area of the Ponchea Krek District of Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. Both of her children (one daughter and one son) are dependent on her and still in school. She has been engaged in rice farming on five hectares of farmland for thirteen years to support her family. Besides this, she also buys garbage for resale to better support her family. The current business earns her about US$11 per day and she manages to save about US$6 each day after offsetting daily expenses.

Samearn has been with VisionFund for two loan cycles and fully paid back the past loans which have helped her relieve her family’s burden and support her children’s education. Now she is applying for a loan with VisionFund of US$1500. With this loan, she is going to buy a plot of farmland for her farming business. She hopes this loan will enable her to extend her rice field, and she hopes to grow her rice on time and fruitfully so as to improve her lifestyle and also keep her children in school.
