A loan helped a member to hire a go down (warehouse) for storing rice.

Kessy's Group's story

Kessy E., age 39, is married with 4 children (ages 20, 18, 13 and 4). She sells rice, a business she started five years ago. She buys rice from upcountry and brings it to Dar es Salaam for selling. She travels twice a month and is able to make a monthly profit of around $488.

In the past, Kessy has taken out one previous loan from Tujijenge Tanzania to pay her children’s school fees. She hopes for a new loan to hire a go down (warehouse) for the storage of her rice. Kessy will share this loan with her subgroup members who sell meat, clothes, soft drinks, charcoal, and retail goods.
