A loan helped a member to buy fertilizers for farmland.

Thouy's Group's story

Thouy is a 52-year-old married mother of four children and earns a living through farming rice on a two-hectare area of farmland. Having been involved in this business for 33 years, she is able to earn about 13,000 KHR per day and manages to save about 3,000 KHR each day after offsetting daily expenses. Low crop yield is the main challenge for her paddy business.

Thouy’s group consists of five members who live in the same village of the Pursat province of Bakan district, Cambodia. She is a second-cycle client with VisionFund. The first loan has relieved her family’s financial burden. Now she and her group members are requesting a loan with VisionFund of 1,000,000 KHR each. Thouy, who is the leader, will use her portion to buy fertilizers for farmland. She hopes to increase her crop yield so as to earn a larger income for the family.
