Ann Sara Akasha Self Help Group's story

The group Ann Sara Akasha Self Help Group (SHG) has 10 members who are all from the same neighborhood. The lady standing 5th from the left, wearing a red sari in the photo, is Jayanti. She is the leader of the group. Jayanti is a 40-year-old woman married to a worker in Tangi village in Odisha, India. The couple has one son who is in school. Jayanti lives with her son and, together with her husband, takes care of all the household expenses. In order to help with all the family expenses, Jayanti has been involved in doing paddy cultivation and selling it to the distributors for the past five years. She supplies her rice to the rice dealers in the nearby market. In order to strengthen the business and respond to client demand, Jayanti, together with the group Ann Sara Akasha SHG, are requesting a loan from Peoples Forum to purchase fertilizers, and pesticides, seeds and to cover their operational costs. Their goal is to increase their business activity.
