A loan helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Sreyvong's Group's story

Originally from a rural village in the Banteay Meanchey province’s Mongkul Borey district of Cambodia, Sreyvong is aged 32 years and married with three dependent children (two daughters and one son). To sustain the family’s needs, she has been in rice farming on three hectares while her husband works as a paid worker in a local area to supplement the family’s income. Involved in this business for seven years, Sreyvong and her husband can earn about 25,000 KHR per day and manage to save about 7,000 KHR each day for the future. The main challenge is lack of working capital to support the current business.

Sreyvong has been with VisionFund for four cycles while the other members have been with VisionFund from two to five cycles. She has successfully used her past loans to improve her livelihood. Now she is leading her group of five females to request a loan. As the group leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use a portion of the loan to build savings. She expects this loan will enable her to earn more income from the current business so as to achieve her dream of buying a tractor for helping in the paddy-rice business and a motorbike for commuting for her family.
