A loan helped to buy more clothes for resale.

Joyce's story

Joyce is 45 years old and lives in the town of Kachwamba in the Fort Portal region of Uganda. She is widowed and has 5 children, one of whom is currently in school. For the past 26 years, Joyce has been working hard to manage her small clothing business.

To help expand her business, Joyce has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes for resale, and it will help her to generate greater profits and pay for her children's medical bills. Joyce hopes that in the future she will be able to build a house on her other plot of land.

Joyce is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Joyce who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
