Eliana is 55 years old and her partner is Rosalino, with whom she has three children ages 17, 16, and 12.

Thanks to her community she has five plots of land where she cultivates coffee and bananas and sometimes also yuca and corn, in order to get out of her difficult situation. "The corn is harvested in four months and it sells quickly, but I rarely plant corn," she says.

Eliana receives support from Rosalino and her three children, but the activity that absorbs her time is the cleaning of her crops. Every month she has to cut out the bad weeds that grow between her plantings, and since she has five blocks sometimes she and her family are not enough to cover this work. This is why they have to hire additional workers. With the certainty of having a good production she offers her coffee with advance deposits, which gives them money in advance, and she is always certain that she will complete the order.

This is her 7th loan that she has received from MFP and for this reason she promises, once again, to pay the monthly fees on time as she did previously. She belongs to the communal bank "Las Hormiguitas" (The Little Ants), a mutually supportive group where she feels comfortable with the educational talks and the visits that they make.

With this money she will be able to buy bags of fertilizer in order to fertilize her coffee plants, and to also pay the laborers who will help them in cleaning up the weeds.
