A loan helped to buy and insure a dairy cow.

Ruth's story

Ruth has been in farming for ten successive years in her rural area of Kitale where she produces mainly maize and vegetables. She is married with three children, ages three, nine and thirteen.

Ruth has requested a loan of 62,400 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow which she says will boost her farming income and supplement her family's daily meals. She hopes to increase the number of her dairy cows to five.

Ruth says that poor infrastructure and the prices for farm produce in the local markets remain the main challenges to farmers in the area.
