Diantoyerela 1 Group's story

Composed exclusively of married women, the 10 members of the "Diantoreyela 1" group live in polygamous households and are on average 40 years old with three children. They all live in the town of Falani, Kolondièba Cercle, and know each other through neighbourhood, family and marital connections. They all run businesses during the rainy season.
With the goal of increasing their production, the group members joined Soro Yiriwaso and are on their third rural loan.
Mafili, seated in the photo, intends to use her loan to pay for seeds, fertilizer, herbicides, mattocks, and labour and hoeing costs for her field. She wants to grow 1.5 hectares of rice, peanuts, and okra. She hopes to produce one tonne of rice, one tonne of peanuts, and 500 kg of okra. A portion of her yield will be destined for sale to repay her loan, and the rest will be stocked for food. The profits from her sales will be used to buy a trousseau for her daughter's wedding and to take care of certain household needs.
