Ankabenkelekan 2 Group is made up of women from Fonfona who know each other well. They live in large traditional families with their husbands, children, and other relatives. They average 47 years of age and have at least three children.
This group of women farms rice and peanuts. To increase their assets, the members of the group decided to join the loan program of Kiva's partner, Soro Yiriwaso. They are seeking their eighth farming loan.
Minata Salif is the member of the group who is crouching and holding an ear of corn in the photograph. She will farm one hectare of corn during this campaign.
She intends to use her loan to pay for plowing, and buy seeds and fertilizers. She gets these products in Fonfona. After the harvest, she sells her cereals retail and for cash, at her home and at the market, to a clientele diverse and varied.
Whereas the other members of the group intend to turn an average profits of XOF 100'000 (ca US$ 190) each, Minata Salif intends to reach XOF 165'000 (ca US$ 310).
In addition to repaying their loans, they will use part of their income to cover their families' personal expenses.
