The group Ankabenkelekan 1 consists of women from the town of Fonfona who know each other well and live in large traditional families with their husbands, children, and other relatives. They are married, average 42 years of age and at least 4 children each. They cultivate rice and groundnut.
In order to strengthen their assets, the members of the group have decided to join the loan program offered by Soro Yiriwaso. This is their eighth agricultural loan.
Minata Moulaye is a member of the group; she cultivates rice and, in the photo, she is in the front row, kneeling, on the left-hand side.
She is planning to use her loan to buy seeds, fertilizer and to pay for the cost of plowing.
She buys her supplies in Fonfona and, after the harvest, she sells her crop for cash, at the market, to a customer base which comprises wholesale resellers and retail consumers.
Whereas every other member of the group is expecting to make an average profit of 100,000 CFA francs, Minata Moulaye is expecting her own profits to reach 110,000 CFA francs.
With their earnings, the members of the group will not only repay their loan but also cover some of their families' expenses.
They wish to strengthen their collaboration with Soro Yiriwaso in order to increase their agricultural assets.
