Cheth, aged 53, resides in a rural village of the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, Cambodia. She is a married mother of four children, two are dependents and only one is still in school. Rice farming has been the main source of her family's income for almost twenty years. Now she farms on three hectares of farmland earning around 22,000 Riel (KHR) per day to support her family. The main challenge for her is the lack of working capital to support her business.
This is the fourth loan for Cheth with VisionFund; she completely paid back the past three loans, which have enabled her better support her family and rice farming business. To address her funding challenges, she is leading her group of four female members to apply for a loan of 1,000,000 Riel (KHR) each.
As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer and rice seeds and use a portion of it to pay for plowing land for rice farming. With this loan, she hopes to grow her rice in a healthy way, increase crop yields so as to earn more income, and to make a better living.
