A loan helped to buy fertilizer.

Gladys's story

42-year old Gladys lives with her parents and her two younger siblings whom she looks after. She runs a grocery store in her house. She started this business as she wanted to try something different, but her real interest and what she learned as a child is growing potatoes, beans, and corn on the land she inherited from her father.

As she is a single woman, she can travel to the capital, Lima, to sell her produce and stay there several days in the hope of better prices. As well, Gladys sells animals in the market that takes place in another town in the region. She thinks nothing of the fact that she also has seven cows that she has just bought. She will sell the milk or make cheese, depending on demand.

Gladys belongs to the Rundo al Progreso Community Bank, and this will be the sixth loan that she has had with MFP. She is grateful for the financial support over this period and promises to make the repayments on time. She is happy too to belong to this group as they are responsible, committed people.

Gladys plans to spend the loan money on buying fertilizer to spread on her potato fields.
