Adding to basket
The 9 members of the Djiguisseme 3 group are married women with an average age of 40, on average 5 children, and who all live in traditional family environments in Kampogosso, one of the villages in San, the 4th administrative region of Mali. They are collaborating with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution in order to be able to carry out their farming activities during the rainy season. This is their 5th loan with the institution, the previous loans having been properly repaid.
Katerine, sitting second from the left in the picture, farms groundnuts. She plans to use her loan to buy small agricultural equipment, agricultural inputs and seeds, and to pay for the labourers that she needs to maintain three quarters of a hectare of farmland. The harvested produce will be sold in her village and at the San market, to a clientele made up of men and women. She expects to make an average profit of 115 000 francs per crop cycle. The profit will enable her to repay her loan as well as to support her husband with the daily living expenses.
