"Colonne de Feu Plus" is a Community Bank made up of 18 micro-entrepreneurs whose chairwoman is Josephine. These members are united for the same goal: to grow their businesses through loans received from Kiva through IMF HOPE RDC.
Josephine operates a drugstore in the mid-western area of Kinshasa. She is 50 years old, a widow and the mother of seven children who are between the ages of 10 and 28. All of them attend school. She began her business in 1993. With hard work and good management, and by providing good customer service, Josephine has seen her business prosper and has permanent customers to keep it up. Her business generates about $40 of profit per week. Her strengths are in her case the purchase of appropriate drugs for her customers.
Josephine has already received three loans from Microfinance Institution HOPE DRC and successfully repaid them. She is planning with the next loan to expand her business by buying more medicine needed by her customers. Her ambition is to open another drugstore and to be a medicine provider in her environment.
