A loan helped to buy new garden tools, seeds and fertilizers.


Shafagat's story

Shafagat is a 41-year-old woman, an internally displaced person (IDP) who lives in Bilasuvar IDP Settlement with her husband and seven children. She is a farmer and has raised seasonal fruits and vegetables for the last 12 years. She chose this business because it is profitable and fresh crops are in high demand. People use fresh vegetables everyday and consider them healthy, many national dishes are made of vegetables, like pilau and dolma. Fresh fruits are served on every table in Azerbaijan families and are also used to make fresh punch.

Shafagat sells her crop in the central bazaar. Her monthly income is 250 AZN. Her husband actively helps her to raise crops.

As these products are in high demand, Shafagat wants to expand her business and produce more fruits and vegetables to cover market demand. For this purpose she applied for a loan of 500 AZN. She will buy new garden tools, seeds and fertilizers.
