A loan helped to buy and insure a dairy cow and poultry birds.

Julia's story

Julia is a resident of Kitale and has practiced farming for five solid years with the help of one farmhand. She produces milk, maize, and vegetables for the local market. Julia also runs a retail shop business to supplement her farming income. She is married and has four children between the ages of 16 and 2 years.

Julia has made a first loan request with Juhudi Kilimo for a second loan of 61,200KES. Her first loan was 30,000 KES. She says she will use the second loan to buy poultry birds at 30,000 KES for a venture into poultry farming and boost her dairy by buying and insuring a dairy cow at 31,200 KES. She plans to repay the loan and acquire a higher amount to improve her farming and to be able to meet all her family’s needs, especially educating her children and improving their lives.

Julia says the seasonal changes in weather and poultry diseases remain their major challenges.
