The A.C. “Mariposas de Collpani” (butterflies of Collpani) will begin their 4th loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Collpani Communal Bank. It’s made up of 8 members and a group of directors, of which, Sonia is the head. The members of our community have various businesses and lines of work like internet café, store, clothing sales, making and selling french fries, sweater sales, coffee and tea sales and crafts.
Sonia indicates to us that she has been a member of the Communal Bank for 2 years and she has a grocery store business that she’s been running for years, something she learned from her mother. The loan for this cycle is to expand her commercial space (buy furniture and fixings). She’ll buy these articles in the fairs in La Paz and then she will sell them in her space. This line of work helps her to support her family – she’s in a common-law relationship and has one child.
When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the training and the attention put on health.
