María Elena, 48, is a single mother of four children who are 18, 15, 12 and 8 years old; only one of them attends school. She lives with her children in the village of El Edén in Peña Blanca, Cortes.
María Elena has been selling vanities (body cream, lotion, shampoo and assorted cosmetics) for 11 years. She established this business needing to earn her own income to support her children; being a single mother she's worked hard. She sells her merchandise in an ambulatory fashion in neighboring communities. She states that she's had good profits that have helped her continue reinvesting in her products. She spends nine hours daily selling her products.
She is very grateful to ODEF for the financial opportunity they've givben her. This is her second loan. She will use the 15,000 Lempiras to buy cosmetics to resell, to increase inventory and to generate more income. Her goal is to be able to obtain a stable locale where she can sell her merchandise and provide better customer service.
