A loan helped to buy fabric, elastic, zippers, and other sewing materials.

Piedad's story

Thirty-five-year-old Piedad is a charismatic, enterprising woman who wants to get ahead and who is also very kind and social. She is separated and she sews for a living. She is the mother of three children who are 18, 15, and 10 years old. She lives in her own home, which she was able to build through a lot of hard work. Piedad sews, making clothing for men, women, and children for all occasions: graduations, fifteenth birthday parties, school clothes, and more. She makes everything in her own home in an area well equipped with sewing machines and furniture where she attends her customers very courteously. She works for a private company half-time and in the afternoons she sews. She started in this business because she learned sewing from watching her mother and realized that it is profitable. When she started, she only had one machine that she bought with and MFP loan, but now she's well set up. She does this business with a friend.

She tells us that she considers her business to be profitable because she makes a good income that allows her to offer her children a better education and a good level of comfort. It also allows her to cover her household expenses as she is both mother and father to her children. Before starting this business her income didn't cover everything. She hopes to keep growing, to buy new machines, and to expand her business. This will be her second loan with MFP and she is very happy to be able to count on the financial support she has received. Because of it, she will make progress with her business and she will become a great businesswoman. She also tells us that she is very happy to be part of a responsible group. With the requested loan for 1,500 nuevos soles, she will buy sewing materials, such as fabrics and elastic, among other things, to use in her business and to complete the orders she has pending. She will get all of these materials in the capital in order to look for better prices for her bulk purchases.
