A loan helped to pay for African dresses, bags, soft drinks and cooking utensils.

Marie's story

This is fifty-year-old Marie. She is married, and has two children aged eight and seventeen. She has one additional dependent, who lives with her to help with the household chores.

In 2008, Marie established her African dresses, bags, soft drinks an cooking utensils. She began her business because she wants to be independent and to take care of her family. Working seven days a week and twelve hours a day, she earns about SLL 1,700,000 every month from this business.

She would like a loan of SLL 5,000,000. Marie has already received and successfully repaid two loans, and now requires a new loan in order to increase her stock. She hopes that this loan will enable her to increase her monthly profits by approximately SLL 350,000. In the future, Marie plans to expand to the centre of town, setting up three shops and to educate her children to university level. She thanks you for your support.
