Tawopaneh Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone is very pleased to present to you members of the “Tawopaneh” group. They are small-scale businesswomen based in Makeni, in northern Sierra Leone. They are requesting a loan of 500,000 SLL for each to enable them further improvement on the size and quality of their respective businesses.

Pictured on the right is Kadiatu, who is the leader of this group. The 58-year-old Kadiatu was born in Lunsar town. She is married to a paramount chief and the couple has three children.

Kadiatu sells rice, beans, millet, bulgur wheat, corn, etc.. She has been doing this business for more than 30 years now. With her share of the loan, she will expand her business by buying the above-mentioned items in large quantity to add to her business.
