A loan helped to buy silver and artificial gem stones.

Otto Elmer's story

Otto, 32, makes and sells jewelry in the city of Granada. He grew up alongside his father who taught him that occupation but when his father died he had to take over the work. He may not have the most modern machines to make his jewelry but they do help him provide daily bread for his family. He makes all types of gold and silver jewelry which he sells in the cities of León and Managua although he would like to sell in other cities too but the lack of raw materials which are very expensive limits him.

Because of this he took out a loan to buy silver and artificial gem stones to make rings, chains, charms and bracelets because he needs raw materials to work and sell to improve his income. In future, he’d like to go to Costa Rica to sell part of the pieces he makes and to have modern machines that will help him improve the quality of his jewelry.
