A loan helped to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics, and clothes.

Beneranda Poderosa's story

The city La California de Portoviejo, capital of Manabí, has been known for many years as the city of the Royal Tamarind Trees. The members of the communal bank Las Divinas meet every fifteen days.

Here we find Beneranda. She is 55 years old and married, and she has 3 children, two who are grown and one minor who’s 17 years old. All of her children live in her home; the two youngest study in college and university. Her husband works in Jipijapa in a study center.

She is a housewife who, in order to have her own resources and be able to help her children in their studies, sells a variety of types of clothes as well as Avon and Yanbal products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and women’s accessories). She works every day for 2 to 3 hours. She sells her products on credit and collects every 8 days. She has been doing this for more than 6 years, and it’s going very well.

This loan is to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics, and various sorts of clothes. This is the loan cycle in the communal bank, and she likes it because the payments are easy to make.

Her dream is to see her children become professionals.
