A loan helped to buy and insure a dairy cow.

John's story

John is a father of 6 adult children and lives in Murang'a area of Central Kenya where he has been into active farming for 10 solid years after his retirement from formal employment. He gets additional income from a pension scheme.

John has requested a loan of 84,800 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy a pedigreed dairy cow. He says he wants to raise only the best breeds to ensure he gets high returns. He previously acquired a loan of 50,000 KES which he repaid promptly. He hopes to improve his living standards with the loan and adds that the skills he has acquired in 10 years of active farming will be a great help.

John feels that the high cost of feeds is the major undoing in farming.
