A loan helped to buy items to sell in her retail shop.

Magdalene's story

Magdalene lives in Changamwe, Kenya with her husband and two school-aged children. For the last eight years, she has made a living by running a retail shop and by working on a farm. She has taken out and repaid one loan, and is applying for a second, for Ksh 50,000, to buy items to sell in her retail shop. Her main challenges are the lack of a permanent place to sell her wares and slow business during the rainy season. Her goal for the future is to own a large store in the town center. Magdelene hopes to use the additional income made possible by this loan to educate her children, meet basic expenses and save for investments she hopes to make some day in real estate.
