Blas, who is 48 years old, has lived with Dionica for 12 years. Together they have a son who is 9 years old, and they live in their own house in the district of Palcamayo. Blas is a hard-working man. He offers transportation services thanks to his vehicle, traveling on the Palcamayo-Tarma route. "The fare per person is 3.50 PEN, and I carry four people. Along the way, more people get on, and I earn 30 PEN per trip. It is very profitable work," he mentions.

But the activity that fills him with enthusiasm is agriculture. He has learned to apportion his cultivated land to produce potatoes, olluco (a root vegetable), barley, and oats, which he sells satisfactorily in the wholesale market in the city of Tarma. Thanks to the variety of his crops, he was able to contact buyers from the city of Lima, where he travels frequently to sell 20 sacks of olluco per trip. "In Lima it is profitable to sell olluco. For that reason I invest more," he clarifies.

With time he is thinking of expanding his plantings of olluco and potatoes, since he knows how to sell them. For this reason he also buys and sells vegetables and root crops. This will be the 15th loan that he will obtain from MFP. Because of that, he promises to be punctual in his monthly payments. With regard to his community bank, he recognizes that working as a team is the most important thing to grow as a community or group. He will invest the money in the purchase of organic fertilizer to fertilize his lands, as well as seeds for potatoes and olluco.
