A loan helped to buy more electronics and phone accessories for resale.

Gerald's story

Gerald is 29 years old and lives in the town of Hoima, Uganda. He is married and has one child. For the past two years, Gerald has been working hard to manage his electronics shop, which sells mainly phone accessories.

To help expand his business, Gerald has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more electronics and phone accessories, and will help Gerald to generate greater profits and improve his standard of living. Gerald hopes that in the future he will be able to have a bigger phone center and become a tech consultant for all of mid-western Uganda.

Gerald is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Gerald who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for micro-loans.
