María Julia, 54, lives with her husband and children in a community called San Carlos which belongs to Costa Rica’s second province, Alajuela. This zone holds the country’s first place in coffee and sugar cane production. It also produces basic grains (rice, beans, corn), fruit, vegetables, tubers and leafy green vegetables. The Juan Santamaría International Airport, the country’s most important, is also located in this province.
María Julia has wanted to do some home improvements for several years now and that’s why being part of this credit firm is such a great opportunity for her.
María is currently asking for a ¢500.000 (five-hundred thousand colones) micro loan to buy building materials and supplies, specifically lumber and paint to repair the roof and beautify her home. She hopes with this to provide a better quality of life for her family since she wants to be more at peace and that her children live more comfortably in a proper home.
María Julia is a member of the “San Francisco” communal bank one of EDESA’s 150 social organizations in Costa Rica. She will continue to grow both personally and economically as well as participating actively in her community’s credit organization.
