A loan helped to purchase stationery and beauty supplies.

Kumria's story

Kumria is a 26-year-old woman who lives in Sana'a, Yemen. She obtained a secretarial diploma after high school. She is single and lives with her parent and two sisters who are all totally dependent on the income of Kumria's business to cover their living expenses.

Kumria started her business, which is selling stationery and beauty supplies as well as antiques and gifts, three years ago exactly after her high school. The idea of the business came to her as a result of the difficult living conditions she and her family faced and the ambition of overcoming such a difficult life. Kumria sold some pieces of gold that were available to her family and borrowed from her relatives in order to make up capital when she began her business.

Kumria took a loan of 80,000 Yemeni Rials from Al-Amal Bank in order to purchase more stationery supplies for the new school year as well as to purchase other beauty materials in order to meet the demand of her clients in her neighborhood.

In the future, Kumria plans to expand her business by opening a new independent business in beauty supplies. She is also saving for her sister, who is studying in a private university.
