A loan helped a member to buy catalogs and shoes for later sale.

Un Futuro Brillante Group's story

Señora Salome is 62 years old, and studied up to primary-school level. She is married to Señor Demetrio, who works in the fields. She has seven children who are all married. She and her family live in a sugar-cane growing region.

Doña Salome shares with us that 10 years ago, she decided to start her own business selling shoes, because she wanted to move her children ahead in life and support her husband with the household expenses. Now that her children are grown, she works to provide a better quality of life for herself and her husband.

She sells her shoes door-to-door to her friends and neighbors, but she also goes to other nearby communities where she shows her catalogs and takes orders. When she has several orders, she goes to buy the items, She later delivers them and receives payment for her products.

Doña Salome needs this loan to pay for catalogs and shoes for later sale.

She hopes that her business will prosper with this investment. She also tells us that she is very happy about the trust that the foundation is putting in her.

Doña Salome belongs to a group made of 6 women; it is called "Un Futuro Brillante" ("A Brilliant Future"). They chose this name for the group because they hope for their businesses to prosper, and to be able to provide a better quality of life for their families.

The other members are Edith and Luisa, who sell Mexican snacks; Abigail and Maria Adriana, who sell shoes; and Angela who sells clothing.

In this group: Edith, Abigail, Luisa, Salome, Angela, Maria Adriana
