Victoria, 29, lives in the city of Cartagena de Indias with her husband and three children whose ages range from 5 to 10 years. From there she works making clothing in all styles, a business she started taking advantage of the infrastructure and experience that her mother had left behind when she stopped working in 2006. She decided to start her own adventure in business to contribute to family income. Today, she has three sewing machines, an overlock machine and a special machine used to attach collars.
Victoria is very enthusiastic about her business that has allowed her to grow and she wants to continue to grow but her main challenge is the insufficient working capital she has to respond to growing clientele which hears about her daily and thus increases the level of need to be responsive to demand.
This is the reason why she’s calling upon a Kiva loan, the first financing she’s had from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, that she’ll use to buy raw materials like fabric, thread and decorations to manufacture gowns for weddings, first communions, and graduation because the season of increased commercial activity is approaching due to the impending second semester festivities and she has to be prepared for it.
