A loan helped to buy several sacks of natural fertilizer.

María's story

María, 44, lives with her husband, Luis. They have six children together but they only live with three of them: Martín, Rosario and Luis. They live as a united family in their own house, located in the locality of Unión Palomar (in the central Peruvian jungle). The effort and constancy of this couple has allowed them to obtain three hectares of agricultural land. María works very hard to maintain their family unity and to support her husband, Luis, with caring for the crops. Luis affirms that it has been 21 years since they started a family

They started planting coffee and bananas. To this day, Luis is motivated by the support he receives from María. "She is very good at sales," he says. After the harvest, María sells their bananas in the city of La Merced. Their coffee, on the other hand, they sell as members of a cooperative formed in the community of Alto Palomar. María is pleased to have the constant support of her husband. They hope to work hard together to improve their crops and thereby increase their production.

She belongs to the “La Unión Hace la Fuerza del Palomar” ["Unity Makes Palomar Strong"] communal bank and this is her second loan through Microfinanzas Prisma. She hopes for a small loan to continue with her plans. She also promises to make her repayments punctually. When María receives her loan, she will use the money to purchase several sacks of natural fertilizers to strengthen her coffee crop.
