A loan helped a member to buy corn.

Amigas Unidas Group's story

The communal bank "AMIGAS UNIDAS" will begin its tenth loan cycle through Pro Mujer at the Centro Santiago II. The group is comprised of nine members and has a board of directors chaired by Mrs. Lucila. The business activities of the members are varied and include: sales of softdrinks, corn, jewelry, food, potatoes, a sheetmetal workshop and a store.

Mrs. Lucila has been working with Pro Mujer for four years and joined the institution through neighbors and friends in her neighborhood. She currently sells corn, which is a trade she learned from her mother.

The loan she is taking out will be used to increase her capital to buy corn in Zorata and sell in the street. This activity generates income to help support her family as much as possible. She is married and has three children.

When asked what she enjoys most about Pro Mujer, she says the training and health-related activities.

In this group: Lucila, Valeria, Helen, Jeannette, Teodora, Elvira, Ruben, Miriam, Zulma
