A loan helped to purchase construction materials for cattle shed construction.

Nana's story

Nana is from the village of Didi Jikhaishi, West Georgia. She is 44 years old, married and lives with her family: husband, Victor; 16-year-old son and 76-year-old father. Nana works as a foreign language teacher in a local school. Victor serves in the army. Nana’s son goes to school and her father is retired.

Nana is running the agricultural business of the family. They have six milk cows and two calves. She sells approximately 120 kg of cheese per month at a local open market. Also, the family owns a pig and sells 12 - 14 piglets per month. Nana’s husband works in the family-owned cornfield, where 2 - 3 tonnes of maize are harvested for the season. The total harvest is used on the farm for feeding the animals.

With the requested loan, Nana plans to purchase construction materials for a new cattle shed. The existing one is already too small and doesn’t allow Nana to plan future expansion of the family’s farming activities. In the future, Nana is going to purchase additional cows so she can produce and sell more cheese. In a year, Nana will need more financial resources, as she will have to pay school fees for her son.
