Massitan's story

Ms. Massitan is 46 years old, married, and has four children. She lives in a nuclear family with her husband and children in the Attbougou area of Ségou (the fourth administrative region of the Republic of Mali).
Not having attended school for societal reasons, Massitan instead attended Koranic school, and very early on began selling goods with her parents. After several years of training alongside them, she finished by starting her own business, choosing to sell clothes and shoes. She has run this business for 15 years now and has extensive experience and a large clientele. Her strength in sales is due to the quality of her items, which are imported.
With the hope of meeting her customers' demands, she turned to Soro Yiriwaso and has been working with this institution for 60 months. After 4 group loans and 3 individual loans, all repaid properly, she is on her 4th individual loan, which she intends to use to buy 1 bale of pagnes wax (brightly-printed West African clothing) and 4 dozen shoes. She gets her supplies in Burkina Faso and Togo. Massitan sells her goods in cash and on credit to a clientele composed of women and men. She foresees realizing a monthly profit of 100,000 FCFA, which will allow her to repay her loan, participate in local events, and help her husband provide for the family.
