A loan helped to purchase diapers, notebooks and school supplies.

Efren Ignacio's story

Efren, who is 49 years old, lives in the urban area of "El Guasmo" in Guayaquil. (El Guasmo got its name from the tree species "Guazuma Ulmifolia." El Guasmo is a working-class neighborhood that was formerly a ranch). Efren's wife is a homemaker who sells Yanbal cosmetics. They have three children ages 18, 16 and 14. They all study in public schools. Efren owns a stationary store.

Twelve years ago Efren owned a small tailor's shop. Eight years ago he began to invest, little by little, in the stationary store. He works from 7:00am to 7:00pm every day. With the help of the loan, he wants to purchase more merchandise like diapers, notebooks and school supplies to stock up his business. In the future, Efren hopes to expand his business and fix up his home.
