43-year-old Aisha is married and a mother to six kids. Her business day involves keeping and selling poultry. She has been in this business for five years now and she operates from Kampala. This business is becoming one of the most lucrative businesses, especially in many urban areas in Uganda. The consumption rate of chicken in Ugandan urban areas is rising every day. It’s for that reason that people like Aisha are doing excellent business.
Aisha says she took over this business from her deceased parents. Weekly she makes sales profits amounting to Ugandan shillings 70,000. She anticipates her business's prospects to get better with the passage of time and with the acquisition of this loan. She says she will use this Kiva loan money to purchase more poultry to resell to her increasing clientele, principally small restaurant owners and bar owners.
