A loan helped to purchase a new car (taxi).

Tengiz's story

Tengiz is a 39-year-old taxi driver from village Kobuleti, Adjara Region, Black Sea coast. He is unmarried and lives with his parents--his 56-year-old mother and 70-year-old father, in the village.

Tengiz’s family is actively involved in agricultural activities. In particular, they have two milk cows, whose milk is used for cheese production. Cheese is sold on the local market. Also they have a citrus garden with an area of 3,000 sq. meters. The harvested citrus is sold to wholesalers. Along with the above-mentioned, Tengiz and his parents run a small bee-keeping farm. They have seven bee-hives with bee-colonies. Honey is gathered twice a year and sold on the local market.

Along with agriculture, Tengiz’s taxi is an important source of the income for the family. Tengiz mainly works in Batumi and Kobuleti, nearby towns and a tourism centre of Georgia. His car is very old and already not comfortable, so Tengiz decided to sell it, add the borrowed amount to its price, and buy a new, better car. He should do it before July, as in July the tourism season starts and he should be ready to serve the tourists.

Tengiz hopes that he will have more clients for this season as he will have a better, more comfortable car. This will be positively reflected in family income. Tengiz plans to use one part of the profit gained this season for purchasing additional bee-hives and bee-colonies.
