A loan helped to purchase additional seeds, seedlings and young crops to raise.

Malama's story

Malama is 39 years of age and married with five children. Malama is a fruit and vegetable farmer. She has one year of experience in this business. Malama needs a loan of WST $1000 to purchase additional seeds, seedlings and young crops to raise. She plans to use the profit from her business (estimated to be 120 talas or US $50 per week) to improve and expand the business.

In 2011, Malama joined SPBD to gain access to financial services. Most of SPBD's clients are unable to borrow from commercial banks, because they lack collateral. This is Malama's first loan with SPBD.
