El Aguacate Group's story

The “El Aguacate” (The Avocado) group is composed of three hard working, enterprising women. They are: Silvia del Carmen, Blanca Carolina and Eloísa de los Ángeles.

Silvia del Carmen, 38, is the group Coordinator. She sells clothes, enchiladas, stuffed tamales (sweet) and nacatamales (Nicaraguan style tamales). She started this business 7 years ago with savings and then started to borrow so that her business would progress.

She has two children who are 6 and 13 years of age for whom she works hard so that they will study and prepare themselves since she was unable to do so; she wants her children to have that inheritance.

She will use the loan in part to buy raw materials (clothes, corn, pork, candy, firewood, etc.) and in part to build a room.

The other group members are Blanca Carolina, 34, who sell clothes, shoes and cosmetics and Eloísa de los Ángeles who has sold clothes for the last five years.

In this group: Silvia Del Carmen, Eloisa De Los Angeles, Blanca Carolina
