A loan helped a member to buy aromatics.

Amautas Cerro Kantica Group's story

The “AMAUTAS CERRO KANTICA” communal bank will start its first cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Panamericana Center. It has nine members and is led by a governing board headed by Virginia. The members are involved in a variety of businesses. Among them are: sahumerios (aromatic herbals and incense), macramé weaving and food sales.

Virginia indicates that this is the first time she’s joined Pro Mujer and that she did so thanks to an invitation from one of the promoters. She currently has a “sahumerio” (aromatic herbs and incense) business that she learned from her family; she’s had it for the last four years.

The loan she’ll take out now is to increase her sahumerio merchandise (she will buy incense, copal, sweets, etc.) She will buy these supplies in the city of El Alto’s La Ceja area, on Corazón de Jesús Street (a commercial street in El Alto) and will sell them in her store which is located on the road to Laja. This way of working allows her to generate income to support her family in every possible say because she’s single and has two children.

In this group: Cristina, Santos, Virgina, Francisca, Julia Amanda, Petrona Lidia, Reyna Balbina, Eulogia, Teresa
