Bella's story

Bella B. is from the village of Casinglot, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. She is 54 years old. Bella is married and has eight adult children. To make a living, Bella owns & operates a sari-sari (variety) retail shop. The main source of income for the business comes from buying and selling canned goods, beverages, snack foods, shampoo, soap & biscuits in the local community. She also butchers pigs for deliveries at houses for credit & also provides ice cubes for school canteen businesses. Bella has been engaged in her business for over five years and earns approximately 10,000 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2011, Bella joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Bella is requesting a loan of 5000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional canned goods, snack foods and as working capital for her business. This will be the 1st loan taken out by Bella from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.
