A loan helped a member to buy chickens and chicken feed.

Mujeres De Patzaquibala Group's story

Maria Z. I. is 45 years old and married. She has a primary school education. She has 7 children, 3 of which are studying. She earns her living by carrying out housework in other peoples homes and by raising animals. She has 5 years of experience in the latter activity, which she began by raising egg-laying hens. Her husband helps her by selling the hens.

She decided to form a communal bank, in order to request a loan from ASDIR. This will enable her to buy more hens, as well as concentrates to feed the birds. The hens will later be sold for a higher price once they have fattened. The other members of the communal bank earn their living in various ways, including: raising pigs and chickens; making embroidered gifts; and selling clothes. They all hope to have a better business in future, with more birds; in this case, poultry chickens to fatten up.
