Sayhua Group's story

Maria is a member of the "Sayhua" community bank which is located in Urubamba province, in Cusco department.

Maria is 34 years old, single and has three children aged 14, 12 and 10. She works for the town council, in warehousing. Maria also makes handicrafts. She makes income in this way in the month of June. She is requesting a loan so that she can buy the different materials she needs to make jewelry. She makes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, keychains and many other items. She also sells knitted products. This month is when Maria stocks her business so that she can start working in her free time. When June comes she will sell her products, taking advantage of the high season. Maria is requesting a loan to invest in buying merchandise so that she can make handicrafts and knitted items.

The other members of this group work in different businesses: farming, raising animals, construction work, grocery store, restaurant and others.

Maria is happy that she is being granted this loan and pledges to make her repayments in a disciplined manner, according to schedule.
