Fidela's story

Fidela is a member of the Communal Bank “Flor de Canela” (Cinnamon Flower) which is located in the District and Department of Puno. She is 55 years old, married, and has three children. Fidela studied through the third year of high school and is responsible from one of her grandchildren.

She has a space at the central market where she sells food and also has a grocery store. Fidela has been working with Manuela Ramos for five years. Her first loan was in the amount of 200 PEN and used to buy products and supplies for her food business.

With this loan of 2000 PEN, she will buy rice, vegetables, potatoes, and other supplies to restock her restaurant. She will also acquire merchandise for her grocery store. Fidela has the support of her husband who works for an institution that trains teachers.

Her dream is to open a bakery so that she can improve her income. What she enjoys most about the Communal Bank are the convenience of the loans and the low interest rates.
