This group is called "Bordadoras de Tete" (Tete Embroiderers) because all of its members make embroidered tablecloths and napkins. This activity is well-known in the region as it is a technique used to weave waistbands. The members of the group are very hard-working native indians who work every day to maintain their families.
The representative of the group is Mrs. Estela who is married to Mr. Fidencio. They have three children, one who in grade school and two who are not school-age yet. Estela plans to use the loan to buy thread to make tablecloths and napkins. She learned the skill when she was very young and sells her products in the local and nearby communities to help support her family.
The earnings from her sales go toward feeding her children and buying them everything they need.
All of the members are grateful to FRAC and KIVA for this support. Their goal is to make their products known internationally since the linens are beautiful crafts made with much effort and love.
