Blanca F. P. is a hardworking woman who lives in Carrizal, a neighborhood in southern Barranquilla full of working class people who are cheerful and dynamic. Fundación Mario Santo Domingo also has a great reception in this area. Blanca has a wholesale business selling powdered whey (a nutritional product made from milk) that has enabled her to generate income to support her family that consists of herself and three children who range in age from 22 to 30. She has customers all over the city and started distributing her products with other people who failed in this same type of business. However, Blanca has been able to succeed and maintain her business. Her suppliers trusted her and were the ones responsible for supporting her during the early stages of her business. Through her business, Blanca has been able to provide her children with an education and acquire a home.
This is her second loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. Her first loan provided greater peace of mind because she was able to buy inventory with cash and without any hassles. Now her dream is to acquire a storefront because she currently works at home and her business is taking up much space. Meanwhile, Blanca continues to work and generate an average of 30% profit from her sales. She wants to increase her margins by shortening her product turnover period. With this Kiva loan, Blanca will purchase powdered whey in large quantities so that she can increase her customer base and expand to other areas that are requesting her product.
