A loan helped to buy more medicines to sell.

Rose's story

Rose is 36 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married with four children, and 3 of them are currently in school.

For the past 20 years, Rose has worked hard to manage her pharmacy, which offers medical services. To help expand her business, Rose has requested a loan of 1,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. Rose will use the loan to buy more medicines to sell, which will help her generate greater profits to repay the loan and buy food for her family.

Rose hopes that in the future, she will be able to open up another pharmacy outlet. She is a member of BRAC’s microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
