A loan helped to buy chickens, little pigs, medicines, and supplies for the preparation of her foods.

María Auxiliadora's story

Maria Auxiliadora and her family live in Montecrisit, which is outstanding for its handicrafts made from toquilla straw, wicker, piquigua [a tropical rainforest plant] fiber, and wood. Fine hats made from toquilla straw are known to the world as "Panama Hats" and are recognized throughout the country and outside of it.

Maria Auxiliadora is an excellent woman and mother who helps her family with the household expenses. She takes advantage of having sufficient space in her backyard, where she raises and sells pigs and chickens. She sells these to dealers who come to buy them live, and other times she sells them by the pound to stores, neighbors, relatives, etc.

She makes the most of preparing special foods in her house on Saturdays and Sundays. In general, her customers always request her baked pig's head accompanied by rice, roasted plantain, and salad. She sells black pudding by the pound. She is very grateful for the loans and for the good people who help her. Thus she is supporting her family.

This loan is to buy chickens, little pigs, medicines, and supplies for the preparation of her foods.
